6 Food Vans You Will Want At Your Wedding

Wedding catering has come a long way recently, with it becoming more of a stylish feature than just a necessity to feed your guests. It’s a big part of the day and I love weddings where they have something different or inventive. Food vans are a bit of a trend right now, and ideal if you are having a marquee, barn or teepee wedding, where you aren’t restricted by catering offered by your venue.

Not only do they look really cool, but there are so many around you can have any cuisine you can think of!

Read on for 6 of my favourite vans right now, followed by a few tips if you want something like this for your wedding.

Dotty About Ice Cream

Vintage Ice Cream Van

Dotty is quite possibly the cutest ice cream van you will ever see. She is a super adorable baby pink vintage van, covering Cheshire, Shropshire and North Wales, serving delicious Cheshire ice cream.

The Ice Cream Cab

Another ice cream favourite is this restored iconic London cab, which will definitely be a talking point at your wedding or event, Serving up traditional ice cream to all your guests, ‘Freddie’ is the perfect addition to any vintage, retro, or classic theme!

La Kordun

La Kordon is a vintage Citroen HY Van that has been restored and is available to hire for your wedding. The great thing about this van is, not only does it look stylish, they can serve up a whole variety of different food, from coffee to crepes, to BBQ or pulled pork, so if you are looking for a food van that is flexible on catering, this is the one.

Anna Mae’s

Anna Mae's Mac and Cheese

Anna Mae’s have a vintage 1986 GMC Vendura, a trailer and a ‘macshack’ which all serve up the most mouth watering menu of mac and cheese with ALL of the toppings. Perfect for a laid back or festival wedding, what more could you want than to pause the dancing and drinking to tuck into this in the evening?

Coco Dining

Coco Dining Van

Another option if you want something looks seriously cool, but can be flexible with the food on offer. Coco Dining Citroen HY vans can serve up bangers and mash, hog roast, fish and chips, crepes, you name it they can probably do it for you. Or if you have your own catering lined up you can hire the van ‘dry’ – they just drop it off ready for you to us as a bar or restaurant!

Pizza Loco

Pizza Loco wood fired pizza

The tastiest wood-fired pizza, served up from a train – Pizza Loco really is one of a kind. The picture above is from our own wedding. We decided on pizza for our evening food as it’s something we both love (hence the Italy honeymoon…) and ideal after a few hours on the dance floor and more than a few cocktails!

Tips when hiring a food van for your wedding:

It’s novel, so even if your guests are not that hungry, they will probably still want something. Make sure you order enough food.

Consider a food van for your evening wedding catering, when people can go up to the van at their leisure, rather than a long line of 100 guests forming as they are starving after the ceremony.

As you will  be very aware of in the UK, think about the weather. Have a back up plan if the heavens open – can your vendor pull up next to the marquee, or do they have a gazebo or a way to cover your guests while they are waiting.
