After a busy few days, the next stop on our Italy honeymoon was a much needed 3 days of sunshine by the coast.
I had spent weeks (maybe months) trying to find the perfect hotel on the coast. There were some absolutely incredible hotels, but at upwards of £1000 per night they were just a little out of our price range… On the flip side there were lots of little B&B style places at about £70 per night, but we wanted something a bit more luxurious for our honeymoon.
I came across Capo La Gala Hotel, through Mr & Mrs Smith. I love that website and thing you can always guarantee the quality of hotel booked through there. It’s on the coast near a little town called Vico Equense, about 15 minutes from Sorrento, so not in one of the famous Amalfi Coast towns like Positano and Ravello. From the website the hotel looked perfect and had the most stunning views so this is what we decided to book. All of the rooms here have a sea view, which I love, but we had upgraded so we also had our own little terrace complete with sun loungers, which felt very special. There is a fun nautical theme throughout the hotel, and even a little shop where you can buy all the things they use.
The hotel is built into the cliff face, so every where you go you have incredible views of the sea. From the room, to the restaurant, to the bar and the pool, you have the most stunning views and perfect, romantic sunsets. This is most definitely the ideal place for honeymooners. The hotel also has a Michelin starred restaurant which we tried out on our first night, with another terrace restaurant by the pool serving pizzas, pastas and salads throughout the day.
We had grand plans of exploring while staying here. We’d hired a car and were going to drive the Amalfi Coast, taking in the amazing views and scenery for 3 days. In fact we didn’t really leave the hotel! The car was used to get us from the train station to the hotel and back again. We had such amazing weather, the hotel was too nice to not make the most of and we were in need of a break after a lot of cities and sightseeing. We spent our days by the pool, with dips in the sea to cool down, pizzas and cocktails and stunning views. Absolutely perfect! I’m already planning when we can go back to the Capo La Gala Hotel!
