10 Reasons To Have A Festival Wedding

As we are currently knee-deep in mud festival season, we’re busy dreaming of the ultimate ‘wed-fest’. Festival themed weddings are super popular at the moment and it’s easy to see why. Not just for the boho bride, a festival style wedding can be tailored to any couples tastes. Here are our top 10 reasons to have a festival wedding for your big day.

A 3 Day Party

Most festival style weddings go on for the whole weekend. A wedding is a great time to get together with family and friends you may not have seen for a while, but the day goes so quickly most couples feel like they haven’t had time to get round everyone. A 3 day weekend bash definitely helps with this, and gives you so much more time to enjoy yourselves surrounded by your loved ones.

Tents & Tipi’s

The great thing about a festival wedding is you can have it almost anywhere you like. A barn venue, or hiring giant tipis, are perfect for this style of wedding. They make a great blank canvas to decorate however you like, and look pretty stunning as a venue! Check out our previous post on tips for an outside wedding in the UK.

Having the option for your guests to camp at your festival wedding makes it super affordable for them, and so much fun for you. Partying into the night is definitely a requirement. For those a little reluctant to pitch up, how about glamping? You can hire a village of bell tents from people such as Glampit. They will set up, take down, and provide all those extra little comforts such as a blow up bed, fairy lights, rugs and cushions.

Awesome Signage

Signs aren’t just for directing people. Festival weddings have all the cool signage around, so if you are planning a wed fest, get collecting wood and paint to get your DIY on! If you’re in need of some ideas, take a look at our post on the top wedding signs from Pinterest.

It’s All About The Music

Live music is pretty much an essential for a festival themed wedding. Whether you have one live band, or a line up of 5, live music really helps the party atmosphere and get people on the dance floor.

Toasting Marshmallows On a Camp Fire

Having an open fire is great at an outdoor wedding. Guests can huddle round if they are getting a bit chilly, but best of all it is perfect for toasting marshmallows!

The great thing about a festival is that you are entertained all day and night. Keeping your guests entertained with music, fun outdoor games, a photo booth, the list really is endless.

Glow Sticks and Sparklers

Sparklers at weddings are one of my favourite things. They make the prettiest photos, and are ideal if you are planning on making a grand exit (even if it is just to change your dress to keep partying all night long). Sparklers not your thing? Get your rave on with glow sticks instead!

Festival Food

A festival wedding means a fun, relaxed and informal atmosphere. It’s the perfect excuse to get creative with your food. You can literally have anything you choose, from pie and mash to pizza and paella. If you’re looking for a food van, take a look at some of our favourites here.

Personalised Wristbands, All Access Passes & Festival Invitations

No festival is complete without a wristband. Giving them to your guests as favours means they will have a lasting memory of your wedding weekend! You can get all the festival themed stationary you could ever wish for, including wristbands and VIP passes, from wedfest.
