Little Life Update

Escrick Park Near York land to hire for a wedding.

Hi everyone.

Well it’s been a bit quiet around here for a while. Life got a little crazy! I work freelance in social media, most of which is working from home, so easy enough to fit in working on my blog. Last summer I decided to take on a contract in a London PR & Digital agency for a couple of months. Anyone who has worked in a London agency will know it leaves you with no time to ever do anything else! Plus I was commuting from our home in Norfolk. Sounds crazy, but it was only for a couple of months and I really felt like I needed to spend some time around other people and out of our little village in Norfolk. So the blog went a little quiet but I knew it wouldn’t be long and I could spend more time on it.

While I was working this contract in London my husband got offered the opportunity to work in California for a couple of years (I told you life got a little crazy)! We had to make the decision and give an answer over night. To be honest there wasn’t much of a debate. We don’t have children to worry about, just us and the pooch, we’re still fairly young, without many ties, so who wouldn’t say yes?! Then we found out we had to move in 4 weeks time…

Along came a very stressful few weeks, filling out visa applications, security clearances, medical checks, sorting all of our belongings into what would go into storage for 2 years and what we would ship out to California, etc etc. We were told it would take 2-3 months for our shipment to actually reach our new home, so we went a couple of months without most of our belongings, just what we could fit into 2 suitcases! We had to arrange shipping out our dog Charlie too, I couldn’t not take him with us. We also had lots of family and friends to see and say goodbye to, you can see why I didn’t have time to blog.

When we arrived in the US, we had to find a house to rent, cars to buy, set up bank accounts, utilities, phone contracts. Basically set up life. I also didn’t have permission to work in the USA. The visa I have means I had to apply for a work permit once here, which I did straight away but it takes a few months to come through.  It’s a bit of a grey area with this blog, but I didn’t want to risk anything. My work permit came through last month and I really want to revive Wedding Edition. I put so much work into it last year and I love writing here, so I thought I’d give a little update before resuming.

It’s still going to be focused on UK weddings and trends, although I’ll hopefully share some of the things I pick up from being out here in California that I think you might like. If you like a little life update every now and again let me know, it’s so different living out here but if you are interested I can share.

So that’s the short story of Wedding Edition’s little hiatus. We’re heading to Utah tomorrow for a week to go skiing, but I’ll be back soon with some wedding inspiration. I’m looking forward to it!
