Searching for the perfect wedding venue can be really hard. Having spent the past few years going to a lot of weddings, we wanted ours to be a little bit different. When we were planning our wedding we had a list of ideal criteria that we wanted from our venue.
- We wanted to be able to party into the night. We didn’t want a curfew, stopping the party dead at midnight.
- We didn’t want to be worried about making noise or disturbing others that weren’t part of our wedding.
- We wanted to be able to choose our own food, our own drinks and a bar that wouldn’t cost our guests a fortune.
- We didn’t want to limit numbers, or have separate day and evening guests.
Basically we wanted flexibility, to make our day completely our own, to have fun with our family and friends.
After a lot of searching we absolutely loved the idea of Papakata teepees. This meant we could have our day, our way, but with a fun venue too. I loved how the teepees were unusual, created a really lovely relaxed vibe, and you could have an open fire in the evening to toast marshmallows! We could have a party in a field, until the early hours of the morning, with a live band, dance floor and disco ball! We had our own bespoke cocktail bar, a wedding breakfast of steak and ale pie, and wood fired pizzas served from a train in the evening!
I’ve shared some of the pictures from our wedding day below, so you can see how we decorated the teepee and hopefully get a feel of the day.
All of the photos in this post were taken by our amazing wedding photographer, Alex Abbott. I cannot recommend him enough, he made everyone so relaxed and documented our day with the most beautiful photographs.
